Description

This Sculpture Oyster Platter has been hand crafted with a blend of an earthy speckled clay body and a textured white clay body giving a unique natural speckled colour. It has been glazed with a glossy white glaze with black specks from the clay body showing through the glaze. 

This piece was titled "Ebb + Flow" and was selected as a finalist in the 2025 SWELL Art Prize.

Artist's Statement for "Ebb + Flow"

Inspired by the ebb and flow of ocean currents, Michelle’s ceramic form captures movement in stillness. Its undulating edges and interconnected pathways reflect the organic structures found in coral reefs, inviting the eye to follow its rhythmic contours. The speckled glaze adds depth and texture, reminiscent of water-worn stone. Handcrafted with attention to balance and form, this piece is a meditation on nature’s quiet persistence and the beauty of fluidity in a solid medium.
